Word Study
In 1-305, we use the Fundations program to teach word study.
- We are currently working on glued sounds.
- Students are also writing sentences using their sight words and what they have learned about digraphs.
Glued sounds (or welded sounds) : Two or three letters glued together- changing the vowel sound.

Remember to label the glued sounds by drawing a box around them:

Bonus Letters: Before adding a bonus letter, think of the following...
1. Does it have a short vowel sound? 2. Does it end in F, L, S or Z? 3. Does it have 1 syllable? IF YES... THEN ADD A BONUS LETTER! Remember to label the bonus letters by drawing a star above the bonus letter: |
CVC Words: Three letter words that are made of a consonant-vowel-consonant.
Tapping: Remember to make the sound of each letter as you tap your fingers. Then, put the sounds together! |
Practice: Tap the sounds of the word. Then, say the whole word.
