At PS 112, we are committed to creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive school community where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, students are given the tools, guidance, and encouragement they need to navigate social situations, make positive choices, and persevere through challenges both inside and outside the classroom. PBIS focuses on teaching, modeling, and reinforcing positive behaviors so that students understand what is expected and feel empowered to succeed.

Beginning in 3K, students are introduced to the ABCs of PS 112, which serve as the foundation of our school culture and expectations. Students learn the importance of being Accountable, Brave, Cooperative, Safe, and Respectful in all settings throughout the school day. These values are explicitly taught, practiced, and celebrated so that children develop strong character, responsibility, and confidence as learners and members of our community.

As part of our PBIS system, students have the opportunity to earn Bee Bucks when they demonstrate the ABCs of PS 112. Bee Bucks serves as a positive incentive that recognizes students for making thoughtful choices, showing kindness, taking responsibility, working collaboratively, and demonstrating perseverance. Students can then use their Bee Bucks as currency in our one-of-a-kind Bee Bucks Bodega (BBB), where they may purchase a variety of fun and meaningful items of interest.

This exciting system not only provides positive reinforcement but also helps students build valuable life skills. Through earning, saving, budgeting, and exchanging money, students are developing early financial literacy skills in a hands-on and engaging way. Our PBIS program helps ensure that students feel motivated, valued, and proud of their growth while learning habits and skills that will support lifelong success.
